Agartala, 28 May 2025 — The Government of Tripura, through its Revenue Department, has issued a high-priority weather advisory to all District Magistrates and Collectors of the state. This comes following a Special Weather Bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting a spell of extreme weather conditions over Tripura from May 28 to May 31, 2025. According to the advisory, the IMD has forecasted heavy to very heavy rainfall, including isolated incidents of extremely heavy rainfall and squally or gusty winds. These weather conditions are expected to arise from a low-pressure system forming over the Northwest Bay of Bengal near the Odisha coast. The state government has urged immediate preparedness and action across various districts including West Tripura, Khowai, Dhalai, Unakoti, North Tripura, Sepahijala, Gomati, and South Tripura. Key Instructions Issued to District Administrations: 1. Continuous Monitoring & Alerts: District authorities are instructed to regularly assess the weather situation and activate emergency response teams including NDRF, SDRF, TSR, Fire & Emergency Services, and trained local volunteers. 2. Rescue Equipment Readiness: All flood rescue gear such as life jackets, boats, and essential supplies must be kept on standby. 3. Flood Risk Management: Monitoring of river levels, embankments, and catchment areas is to be prioritized with necessary preventive measures implemented immediately. 4. Evacuation Plans: Residents of low-lying and vulnerable areas should be evacuated to safer shelters without delay. 5. Damage Assessment Reporting: All districts are required to report damage assessments to the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) by 2:00 PM daily during the alert period. 6. Restoration Work: Teams are to begin immediate action to clear debris and restore essential services wherever impacted. 7. Deployment of Officials: Key officers must be deputed for field response and coordination at the district level. 8. Community Involvement: Standby volunteer groups should be activated as per the district’s disaster management plan. 9. Situation-Based Response: All response efforts should be flexible and aligned with real-time needs and developments. 10.
